The Library Committee

The Librarian is the chair of the Library Committee and is responsible for the organisation of the Society’s library collections and muniments. Committee members aid the Librarian in her/his duties.

The library’s collections are comprised of items relating to the archaeology and history of Kent. These include books, journals, wills, plans, maps, estate papers, photographs, portraits, postcards, archaeological artefacts and past member’s notebooks.

Members may use the library during Museum opening hours and should sign at the front desk on arrival and on leaving.

Non-members may use the library by arrangement only.Please note that the library is volunteer run and hours of access are limited. The library is generally open Tuesday-Thursday (10.30am – 2.30pm) but you must email the librarian to check that someone will be in the library if you plan to visit.

The librarian works on a part-time basis but aims to respond to enquiries as soon as possible.


Parking is not permitted in the Museum Car Park. Collection and delivery is an option but there is a requirement to leave the site immediately after.
